Pipo M9 Android Tablet Review
The Pipo M9 Android tablet is the predecessor to the new Pipo M9pro. The main differences are the lower resolution 10.1 inch display (1280 x 800) instead of the retina (1920 x 1200) display, and 16GB ROM instead of 32GB on the M9pro. The retina display is a very attractive upgrade but it comes with a price and it is not just in dollars. The quad-core RK3188 is a very powerful chip but a lot of extra power is required to push the extra pixels on the retina screen. In many apps, especially graphically intensive ones like 3D games, the RK3188 struggles and this results is jerkiness which renders some apps unusable. This is less of an issue on the Pipo M9. All the 3D games run well on the tablet although I have to admit that the retina screen on the M9pro does make the graphics look more impressive. The extra storage ROM on the M9pro is a minor update in my opinion as users can easily add more storage by using the microSD memory expansion slot. Memory cards are also cheap with 32GB microSD cards going for under $25. The price difference between the M9 and M9pro is significant. Comparing the WiFi only model on AliExpress, there is about a $30-$40 price difference. If you plan to use the tablet for a lot portable gaming, it might be wiser to stick with the Pipo M9 for compatibility purposes and save some money at the same time. However, if you do not do much gaming and do not mind paying a little more for a better screen, the M9pro is a good buy as well. Cube is a relatively new brand in the China tablet market. Like many of the other China brands, they started out as OEM manufacturers before branching out into their own brand. Cube had a really successful product with the original Cube U30GT and they have followed up with its high resolution successor, the Cube U30GT2 Android tablet. Pipo M9pro Android Tablet Review
This is a review of the Pipo M9 pro 10.1″ quad-core Android tablet, the update to the original Pipo M9. The Pipo M9 was released not that long ago so this is a small incremental update but the updates are significant. The biggest change is of course the display. The size remains at 10.1″ but the resolution sees a jump from 1280 x 800 pixels to 1920 x 1200 pixels. This bump in resolution puts the new display in the Retina display class. The second update is the inclusion of a GPS receiver. This means you can now use the Pipo M9 pro for GPS navigation. The last change is an increase of the storage ROM from 16 GB to 32 GB. This is a nice increase but not really such a big deal as you can always add storage via the built-in microSD slot. Actually there is one other minor change that is seldom mentioned. The Bluetooth has been upgraded from Bluetooth v2.1 to Bluetooth v4.0. Bluetooth v4.0 or BLE is the low energy version of Bluetooth. One of the biggest problems with Bluetooth is the drain on battery life. With BLE, it is now possible to have a Bluetooth connection over long periods of time with minimal impact on the battery.
